REVIEW: Take You Apart by T.J. Spade

Take You Apart by T.J. Spade

*** 2016 Global Ebook Awards Nominee ***

A woman – so young and ripe – lies amid a detritus of pine needles and dirt. Her hair is matted to her face with a mixture of blood and tears and she screams again before subsiding into body wrenching sobs. Her voice is slightly slurred as she begs, “Please, stop. Please, I want to go home. Please don’t do it again.” A pair of black gloved hands comes into view. They hold pliers. The girl screams again. Lovely.

Successful artist Caleb Everett lives each day with a real-time film inside his head, playing … murder. Since he was a child, Caleb has been able to see into the minds of killers. Working alongside veteran Homicide Detective Jack Rafferty, Caleb now uses his unique ability to balance the scales of justice.

With a new case afoot, Caleb is himself being targeted by a killer, and with attractive journalist Makayla Dawson on the scene, it becomes a race against time to save them all. With the odds savagely stacked against them, will this case take apart everything Caleb holds dear?

REVIEW: Dirty Saint by Vesper Vaughn

Dirty Saint: A Secret Baby Sports Romance

ESTHER: Everyone on campus thinks football hotshot, Saint Williams is a pious and righteous role model.

He has this whole university fooled. Not me.

I've seen a whole other sinful side to Mr. Touchdown. I've witnessed his swagger. Heard his filthy mouth and lost count how often he says the Lord's name in vain.

I can’t stand that man. So why is he starring in my dreams? Why do I have a carnal highlight reel in my mind, looping with images that have nothing to do with the game of football?

Now I’m the first-ever water girl for the university football team. My plan? I need to stay far, far away from temptation.

I’m here for the thrill of the game. Not to worship the sexy-as-sin Quarterback.

But from the first day of practice Saint's sultry gaze makes it perfectly clear that he intends to score.

SAINT: They call me Saint.

That’s because I’m a miracle on the football field. I’ve taken this cloistered, religious university and launched it into the national spotlight.

All I want is to play ball and get to know some of my lovely and devoted female fans. They flock to my games. They can't wait to offer me anything I want after the final play.

But all that changes when I catch sight of Esther. The water girl is the only girl on campus who doesn't want me.

That's okay because I like a challenge, I like strategy and I really like the idea of finally claiming Esther's heavenly body.

This standalone, full-length novel contains cursing, steamy sex scenes, no cheating, and a guaranteed happily ever after.

REVIEW: The Midnight Man by P. Mattern, Ginger Marie

The Midnight Man

Creepy, twisted, strange, but kinda hot. Who knew?!! Oh yea, ghostbusters, too. This book was enjoyable and very interesting.
My rating based on the story alone- 5 stars, however, because of a few typing errors, my final rating is 4 stars. With that said, this book fully captivated my attention, and I will definitely take the time to read book two in this series. Recommended.

REVIEW: Saved by the Outlaw by Alexis Abbott

Saved by the Outlaw on Amazon

Saved by the Outlaw: Motorcycle Club / Hitman Romance

She was the girl that got away. Now she thinks I murdered her dad.

Cherry LaBeau. More like Cherry Bomb, the way she walked back into my life, accusing me of killing her father.

She's a fiery mystery from my past, and this time, I'm not going to let her get away.

But first, I have to prove to her that we're lookin' for the same person. That whoever killed her dad has been screwing with my club and the people I care about most. So I'm going to find the scumbag who hurt my Cherry, and my club, and I'm going to make them pay.

Even if I have to turn back to my former hitman ways...

A full length Romantic Suspense novel. No Cliffhangers/Standalone. Safe. Contains a teaser for my next release.
RATING: 5 stars
REVIEW: Cherry, a journalist, who's father was murdered, bumps into Russian hitman & bad boy, Leon, who may not be so bad after all. Need I say more?!! Hot!! Plus, a motorcycle club & FBI... yes please. Another enjoyable read from Alexis Abbott- I love her characters and attention to detail; which is never overdone. I find that when I pick up a book from this author, it never feels forced or like a chore to begin reading one of her books, blessing. This is my second read by Alexis Abbott and I'm standing in line for more- happy to have found this author who has provided an ARC in exchange for my honest review. Once again, loved it.
HAPPY READING! ~THERESA

Review: Center Stage (Bright Lights Billionaire Book 2) by Ali Parker

CENTER STAGE ON AMAZON

Center Stage (Bright Lights Billionaire Book 2) by Ali Parker

From Best Selling Author, Ali Parker comes a new Billionaire Series filled with sexiness, humor and intense attraction...

The bright lights of Hollywood can be blinding at times.

Riley and Ethan dive head first into the hard work required to produce a blockbuster film. With only ten months to get everything done, they’re working around the clock and it shows. The tension between them is building to an explosion neither of them is ready for. In hopes of trying to keep things professional between them, Ethan takes a step back and presents himself in a new light – a more responsible, mature Ethan Lewis.

The smoke and mirrors takes its toll on both of them, and everyone is starting to notice. It isn’t just about their relationship anymore, but about the possibility of messing up both their careers and all of their dreams.

This is book 2 in a continued series.

18+ Explicit sexual content and possible foul language.

RATING: 5 STARS
THERESA'S REVIEW:
These books are fantastic. Love them. Ali Parker's writing cracks me up, and her dialogue between her witty characters is spot on- realistic.
Book two is just as good as the first. The tension continues to rise between the two main characters Ethan and Riley- unbelievably frustrating, yet to reach climax. Poor Ethan and his super sized package lol. Once again, I am left wanting more and more of Ethan and Riley's story. Recommended (along with all of the foul language involved hahaha). I definitely cannot wait for book three.
I was provided a free copy of Center Stage in exchange for my honest review. Loved it!!

HAPPY READING!!

REVIEW: Reaper (Boston Underworld, Book 2) by A. Zavarelli

Review on Amazon

REAPER (Boston Underworld Book 2) Kindle Edition by Ashleigh Zavarelli

Sasha.

He’s dark and mysterious. Quiet and lethal.
An Irish mobster.
Pure sin wrapped up in a beautiful package.
But there’s also something off about him.
He doesn’t feel anything. He shows no emotions.
Sometimes I question his humanity.
He hasn’t spoken to me in two years. Not a single word.
But we share a secret, he and I.
And if it ever comes out, I have no doubt in my mind…
He won’t have a problem killing me too.

Ronan.
I’ve slain for her. I’ll do it again.
When it comes to Sasha, there isn’t a line I won’t cross.
I watch her. She doesn’t know it.
She thinks I hate her. Sometimes, I think I might too.
But I’m always there, lurking in the shadows.
Craving her. Trying to keep the beast within at bay.
I’ll keep her safe. I’ll slaughter anyone who tries to hurt her.
The only thing I can’t do… is protect her from myself.

****This is a full-length standalone novel full of hot Irish guys with accents. Dark mafia themes throughout. HEA included.****

RATING: 5 STARS
THERESA'S REVIEW: I'm struggling with words to describe this book by A. Zavarelli.
Let me just say that this book is impossible to put down. It was over once I started this book, I read it straight through the night. Ronan's story will remain one of my favorites, always. This book was hands down my favorite of the two. Although I appreciated Mack's witty character in the first book, Ronan and Sasha's story snuggled right up next to my heart.
(However, we get some of Mack's charm in book two as well... Mack "thundering down the isle," cracked me up- love her, just read it lol). Ronan and Sasha's story is broken, beautiful, creepy, twisted, yet surprisingly hot!
After purchasing and reviewing Crow (Book 1), I was offered a free copy of Reaper (Book 2) in exchange for my honest review.
Both books have a memorable cast of characters that I'm glad to have met. Well done- I'm now loyal to the Boston Underworld and ready for book 3. :)

REVIEW: CROW (BOSTON UNDERWORLD BOOK 1) BY A. ZAVARELLI

CROW on Amazon (99 cents)

CROW (Boston Underworld Book 1) Kindle Edition by A. Zavarelli

He’s a killer. A mobster.

The last man on earth I’d ever want to be with. I won’t lose my head just because he’s hot, Irish, and has a wicked accent to boot.

He’s one of the only leads in my best friend’s disappearance, and I don’t trust him.

So I’ve got a few rules in mind when it comes to dealing with Lachlan Crow.

1. Keep a clear head and don’t get distracted.
2. Do what’s necessary and never forget why you’re there.
3. Never, and I mean never, fall for him.

Fourth and final rule?

Throw out the book altogether. Because the rules don’t apply when it comes to the Irish mafia.

It was only supposed to be temporary, but now Lachlan thinks he owns me. He says he’s not letting me go.

And I believe him.

***
Lachlan.

I don’t know who she is. I don’t know why she’s here.

But if it’s my attention she wants, she has it.

The Russians want her dead, and now it’s up to me to look out for her. This girl is trouble. A distraction I can’t afford.

So why have I already decided she’s mine?

I’ve claimed her and there’s no going back now.

This is a full-length standalone novel full of hot Irish bad boys with accents. Steamy and dark mafia themes throughout. HEA included.

RATING: 4.5 STARS

THERESA'S REVIEW: I have been in a bit of a reading slump lately- just could not find anything to grab my attention for longer than the first few pages or chapter.

That is... until Crow came along.
I'm so happy to have finally finished a book lol. Loved it! Well-written and just the right mixture of elements to keep me interested so that I could blaze through the story. I love sassy characters, and Mackenzie is a spitfire- loved her character. If the F-bomb is offensive, then I wouldn't suggest reading this book hahaha. Mack sets out to find out what happened to her best friend by going undercover as a dancer at the club, but finds herself drawn to someone she'd least expect- & the steam rises between Mack (Butterfly) and Lachlan. This is my first book by this author, but I'm on board and eager to read more. Next...

Review of Progress by Amalie Silver

Progress on Amazon

Progress Kindle Edition by Amalie Silver  (Author), Amy Jackson (Editor)

Jesse

I admit, I didn’t think much of Charlie at first. She was rounder than the girls who usually caught my eye. Not my type. But when I saw her sitting in that booth alone, for the first time something in my mind or my instincts or my heart told me to join her.

She defied me.
She challenged me.
She gave me hope.
Before I knew it, moving forward was my only option.

Charlie

I couldn’t tell you when it happened, but it had to have been a gradual change; I never moved too quickly.

If someone would have told me earlier that year what I was going to go through, I wouldn't have believed them.

Jesse was so different from anyone I’d met before. And everyone I’ve met since. He sucked all the life out of me, in the best—and worst—ways.

We don’t get strong overnight. For most of us it takes time. Strength isn’t measured by how high and fast our walls go up, but how easily we can watch them fall.

This book contains material that might be a trigger for some readers. Abuse and rape are implied, but not described in detail. Discretion is advised.

RATING: 4.5 STARS
REVIEW:
Unique, heart shattering, yet gripping opposites attract love story that is impossible to put down. Amalie Silver is a new to me author in 2016, and I will most definitely follow up with more books by this author. Loved this story! Highly recommended!

REVIEW: ***Stage Left (Bright Lights Billionaire Book 1) by Ali Parker***

STAGE LEFT BY ALI PARKER
Series: Bright Lights Billionaire Book 1
Format: Ebook
Pages: 144

From Best Selling Author, Ali Parker comes a new Billionaire Series filled with sexiness, humor and intense attraction...

Ethan Lewis has been in the bright lights for as long as he can remember. He's just turned the cusp of celebrating his twenty-fourth birthday, and yet he feels more like eighty. Living the life of a celebrity isn't all it is chalked up to be, and dealing with the unruly number of women who are more interested in his billions than who he is as a person is getting old. He has resigned himself to giving up on love and focusing on the only thing that truly gives back - his career.

Riley Phillips has always dreamed of being on a big stage with the warmth of the spotlight baring down on her, but she just couldn't seem to catch the right agent's attention. After giving a quick commencement speech as Valedictorian of her graduating class at Billmore High, she's offered something she can't refuse... The chance to work in Hollywood. It's not all it's chalked up to be, but she works hard and finally gets her big break four years down the line. There is a new movie that her agent wants her to audition for, and her co-star? The dreamy Ethan Lewis.

She scores the part, but soon regrets it due to his callous, overbearing persona. He's nothing like the public touts, and she for one isn't impressed.

Funny enough, he is - immensely.

This is book 1 in a continued series.

18+ Explicit sexual content and possible foul language.

RATING: 5 STARS
THERESA'S REVIEW: Completely fell hard for Ethan and Riley's story! I simply could not put this down once I picked it up. I planned on reading a few chapters before bed, but I engulfed every single delicious chapter in one sitting. The push and pull between these characters is real, frustrating, but oh so good!
I loved going through the ups and downs with these characters. This book made me smile, laugh, cringe, and then finally want to break my reading device in two. However, in the end I'm glad I didn't because I'll need it for the second book. That ending though... Loved it! Not to mention that heated audition scene. Wow! I quickly recovered from the sadness that I hit the end of the book once my mind ran wild with the realization of where this series is headed. Stage Left is exciting and worth every page.
This is my first book by Ali Parker who kindly sent me an advance review copy in exchange for my honest review. My honest review says that Ali Parker now has me twisted around her little pinkie finger. Thanks for making me wait and suffer for book two Ali Parker! Lol! Not cool! But, I love you for writing this book! You can find me waiting in the audition lines for book two! This is my honest review of Stage Left by Ali Parker!

REVIEW: COME (A NOVELLA) BY JA HUSS

THIS IS BOOK ONE OF A SERIES.
THIS IS A NOVELLA.

YOU WILL GET MORE QUESTIONS THAN ANSWERS IN THIS BOOK.
IF YOU HATE THAT - SKIP THIS WHOLE SERIES COMPLETELY.

(It's twisty, complicated, dark, dirty, and ALL the main characters are killers.)

My name is James Fenici and you will never see me coming. I walk the shadows like darkness itself. I hide in the corners where nobody looks. I live by no rules, I have no boundaries, I take no prisoners, and I never, ever blink. I am not your knight in shining armor; I'm your worst nightmare.

My name is James Fenici and you are my target. Only one of us is getting out alive, and that's not gonna be you. Once your name is on my list, your life is over. It's a deal I make with death, it's a contract I sign in blood, it's forgone conclusion--get used to it.

My name is James Fenici and I'm as dirty as they come. But then one day I saw her. And every monster I thought I was. Every fact I thought I knew. Every dirty promise I ever turned down came back to slap me in the face.

My name is James Fenici and I think I am in love.

RATING: 5 STARS
REVIEW: Now this is exciting! I just read this book in one sitting. Only meant to read a few pages and two hours later the entire novella is complete, and I'm hooked. I need the next book right now.
I absolutely love the mystery of not knowing what's going on in this book right now.
MUST FIND OUT! :)
J.A. Huss, pretty sure that means that you own me right now haha. ;)

This was the perfect book to pick up next after reading 18. I'm excited to see where this series is headed. I'm loving this author! <3
Most Definitely Recommended!

REVIEW: SOLD TO THE HITMAN BY ALEXIS ABBOTT

She's terrified of me. She should be.

I'm no saint, but apparently even killers have limits. When the Bratva hired me as security for the night, I didn't know it was a flesh trade. I could have kept my cool, done my job, but then I saw her. Pure as a lily, dressed in skimpy lingerie, and being auctioned off to the foulest men in Brighton Beach.

I'm not used to this white knight sh*t, but I did what I had to do. I outbid those pieces of trash and bought myself a bride.

What the hell do I do with a sweet, subservient woman who's been trained to obey her husband? I can think of some things my baser instincts want me to do... But when she submits to me, I'm going to be the man that deserves it, not just the one she owes it to. So I'm going to make her life better. I'm going to make her want me just as bad as I want her.

And at night, when my new princess is slumbering, I'm going to make every one of those pimps pay in blood.

MY RATING: 4.5 STARS

MY REVIEW:
Thank you Alexis Abbott for robbing me of my sleep. I read Sold to the Hitman until the sun just began to rise, and loved every second of this book. This was a wonderful book, and I'm so happy to have read it. I'll need a day to recover from this because my brain is feeling foggy today from lack of sleep. The synopsis was what intrigued me and it didn't disappoint. I just had to keep on reading to find out what was gonna happen. I really loved the two introduction chapters when we get to meet both main characters. The alternating perspectives were done beautifully.
Even though I personally would have preferred just a touch more action,
I can definitely say this book was well balanced between the mafia backdrop and the love story that unfolds between the main characters. I especially enjoyed learning about Cassie in this book, and I couldn't imagine growing up as sheltered as she did. Cassie's story broke my heart and reeled me in at the same time. Seriously, Andrei.... what a hero! Sigh! This is my first book by this author who kindly sent me an advanced proof in exchange for my honest review. I need more, so I'll be moving on to Owned by the Hitman next.
Yes, I do believe I have a book hangover lol.

REVIEW: HOW TO SAVE A LIFE BY EMMA SCOTT:

HOW TO SAVE A LIFE BY EMMA SCOTT: Josephine Clark is trapped. A harrowing past haunts her every time she looks in the mirror, and she can’t escape the violence of her everyday life. More and more, her thoughts turn to Evan Salinger, the boy she knew in high school. The boy they called a mental case. A loner. A freak. The boy who seemed to know things no one could know. For a few short weeks, Jo had found perfect solace in Evan’s company, sneaking every night to meet him at the local pool. In the cool of the water and the warmth of Evan’s arms around her, Jo had tasted something close to happiness.

Cruel circumstances tore them apart, and four years later, the sweet memory of their time together is dissolving under the punishing reality of Jo’s life now. Evan seems like a fading dream…until he reappears at the moment she needs him most. Guided by Evan’s strange intuition, they flee her small Louisiana town, on the run from the police, and Jo begins to suspect there is something more to his sudden return than he admits.

Over twelve days across America’s heartland, deep secrets come to light, buried pasts are unearthed, and the line between dreams and reality is blurred as Evan and Jo fight to hold on to their soul-deep love, and discover that there is more than one way to save a life.

How to Save a Life is a complete second-chance STANDALONE novel with shades of the paranormal. It carries the characters from high school through to their early twenties. It is not YA; mature subject matter and sexual situations. TRIGGER WARNING: some domestic violence (on the page) and mentions of sexual abuse (off the page) For readers 18 years and up.
MY RATING: 5 STARS
MY REVIEW: This is a clever and beautiful book that has so many fabulous twists rooted in this story. The reader is bound to experience some emotional ups and downs. I love the hint of paranormal sprinkled into the pages giving this story its unique quality done perfectly. This is a memorable story with a fantastic set of characters. This book transitions into what seems like a new world from a different book a few times, but its welcomed and easy to adjust to. There are plenty of surprises awaiting in these pages. These characters won my heart! I was not exactly sure what to expect going in, but I enjoy every page. I'd like to see this made into a movie. I'm saying this book is amazing!
Note: There was a few typing errors in this book, but it wasn't too distracting. The kind where the fingers got ahead of themselves on keyboard lol. This book is way too good to let that interfere with picking it up. READ IT!!! I loved it! This is my first book by this author, but it won't be the last.
Highly Recommended! ~Theresa

Review: Eighteen (18): Based on a True Story by JA Huss

Eighteen (18): Based on a True Story by JA Huss

Eighteen is hard.

And so is Mateo Alesci.
Hard to read, hard to predict, hard in every way that counts.
He wants things from me.
Dirty things, nasty things, forbidden things.
And I have to give in.
His attention is completely inappropriate, but I can’t say no.
The way he looks at me… the way he watches me through my bedroom window… the way he drags me deeper and deeper into his completely forbidden fantasy just… turns me on.
He knows it turns me on.
He holds all the power. He holds all the cards. He holds my entire future in his hands.
And I have to give in.
Because Mr. Alesci is my teacher.
And I need everything he’s offering.

My Rating: 5 stars
My Review: This book was hot, hot, hot. Let me tell you.
This story is about so much more than I anticipated. The twists and turns were amazing. I was completely shocked to learn what was really going on, and it wasn't what I suspected. What a powerful story. This story is about trust, love, loss, family, discovery, and new beginnings.

This author has all the right stuff to grip the reader from start to finish. I could not put it down and devoured this book in only two days. The need to know what was going to happen drove me through at break neck speed. Definitely a great read. This is my first book by this author and it will not be the last. Actually, I already purchased another book before hopping online to write my review. :)

Even if this isn't your typical go to read, read it, there is a great story within these pages. If you've never thought about a teacher in this way before, you will after this spicy read. LOVED!

J.A. Huss, you have got a new fan right here. I'm going to read EVERY SINGLE BOOK AVAILABLE by this author. Thank you for sharing this sizzling hot story with your readers.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! ~Theresa
