Blog Review of Darkness Within Written by Isabel Lucero

Darkness Within by Isabel Lucero
The moment it happens, everything in me changes.
Imagine somebody was able to fit inside of your body. Their arms are the same length as yours. You’re both the same height. Everything is exactly the same. Now imagine that person not being a person at all. That thing inside of you is a shadow. Darkness. A silhouette of you, only living on the inside of your body. It doesn’t have a conscious. It doesn’t have a heart. Nothing within that darkness is remotely human. Its only goal is to take over your body. It fights against your muscles. It tries breaking through the skin. It wants to replace you. That’s what it feels like when the darkness that lives inside me starts trying to get out.
I feel it happening. The pressure builds. My skin prickles. And the only thing that tames it, getting it back to resting peacefully inside me, is to unleash it. I have to let it wreak havoc, and I quite enjoy the mayhem.
Analeigh Price comes into my life and does the one thing I hate; question me about my past. She can pretend she wants to get to know me all she wants, but she’s not ready for the truth. I won’t become a better person for her, because I am who I am. She can't fix me, because my wounds are unfixable.
You see, I’m not like everybody else. Oh, no. I’m different. My humanity was stripped from me long ago, and those who are responsible are about to be paid a visit. You’ve never heard a story like mine, because I’m unlike anyone you’ve ever met. I’m no hero. I’m the guy you don’t want to piss off, because once the darkness within me is unleashed, it’ll be too late to get away.
What’s my name? It’s Donovan. Donovan James. But the darkness is taking over, and it’s only good at one thing, so I must go.

The Authors:

Delaney Foster
Hi, I'm Delaney, and I write love stories. I love all things romance, a good glass of wine, and Saturdays at the baseball park. I DO believe leggings are pants and pumpkin spice should be a year round thing. In my stories you'll find sexy, alpha men and the strong women who love them.

Ellie Masters
Ellie Masters has been exploring the worlds of romance, dark erotica, science fiction, and fantasy, by reading and writing the stories she wants to read. When not writing, Ellie can be found outside, where her passion for all things outdoor reigns supreme: ATV-ing, scuba diving, hiking, and breathing fresh air are top on her list.
She lives with her beloved husband, two children who refuse to flee the nest, and four fur-babies; three cats who rule the household, and a dog who wants nothing other than for the cats to be his best friends. The cats are of a different mind regarding this matter.
Ellie’s favorite way to spend an evening is curled up on a couch, laptop in place, watching a fire, drinking a good wine, and bringing forth all the characters from her Mind-to-the-Page and eventually into the hearts of her readers.

When she can’t see that for herself with other people in real life, she writes it or reads it. Writing has been a part of her life since she was a little girl, along with being an avid reader. She will continue to write until the pen will not allow it anymore.

Bio

I am first and foremost a reader. I have been in love with reading since I was a little girl. From the Boxcar Children to Pride and Prejudice, I have lived and breathed every type of book. One day while looking for a certain book I was interested in reading I found I couldn't find it. A friend told me to write and I thought she was crazy but decided to give it a try. 80,000 words later and I can officially add writing to my love list.

Reading is like breathing in, writing is like breathing out. - Pam Allyn

While reading and writing are my passions, my two children are my world. I love being a mom and can't imagine my life without my two beautiful miracles. I hope one day they will see that as long as they put their heart and soul into something they can accomplish anything they dream of!

Blog Review of Prude by Jordan S. Gray

My Goodreads Review:

Prude (Labeled Book 1)Prude by Jordan S. Gray
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was super excited to read this book, being a giant fan of Romcom books. I wasn't dissapointed at all! I did feel the book could have had a few more comedic scenes, but overall feel it was very well written, and the characters very relatable and well developed. I especially loved the ending of the book, and appreciate the opportunity to have read such a fun book!. I look forward to the second installment in the series featuring the best friend Shaylor, who was a side character aka best friend of lead female Rebecca in Prude. This book has a little bit of everything, and doesn't get overly sexual, and I would say is appropriate for YA and older. I rate this book a solid five star rating, and will be recommending to others as well!

Blurb:
Ebony has spent the last two hundred years trying to escape the Underworld, because who she is doesn’t match what’s in her heart. Being a demon that has a pure heart is unnatural, and those around her, mostly her family, want to keep her imprisoned for the rest of her life.
While escaping, she saves an angel imprisoned in the Underworld and the course of her entire life is change from the moment she meets the mysterious angel, Simon.
With the help of the Promiscus Guardians, and their lesser known subgroup, the Underground Guardians, Ebony is set on a path that will lead her to discovering the true depth behind her power, the value of her pure heart, and a life worth living. But will her undeniable connection with Simon lead to her undoing?
Excerpt:
I had never touched anyone before, so I was only made all the more curious by it when Simon’s body tautened under my inexperienced hand, shuddering against me in a way that tantalized my own body beneath his. It was a powerful sort of feeling to have such an authority, a man who commanded many with his words and actions, weakened in some manner under my touch. It made me eager to do more; to see what I might be able to do to an angel of his caliber.
It made me hungry for more.
I nibbled my lower lip as my fingers slipped around the curve of his chin, feather-light over the strong column of his neck, which was as strained as his body was now. I watched avidly as the notch of his Adam’s apple bobbed against my fingers the instant I touched where it rested. A breath escaped Simon’s lips, drawing my gaze to his face once more.
“Is this okay?” I inquired, voice barely above a whisper. “Am I allowed to touch you like this?”
Simon’s laughter reverberated against my body, causing my hand to jerk away. His smile had grown as he shifted into an upwards position, hand breaking loose every button on his cream colored shirt and stripping the material of it away. His strong chest, which clenched and smoothed with his movements, was exposed to the pure light as Simon discarded his shirt, half sitting upwards between my legs. He took the hand I had recoiled with his sudden laughter and led it to his chest, flattening my palm against the warm skin.
“Touch anywhere you please, Ebony,” he offered with a daring grin. “Satisfy your curiosity.”

Fools Rush In Blog Tour and Review!

My Review
Fools Rush In (The Interstellar Rescue Series Book 3)Fools Rush In by Donna S. Frelick
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book Was amazing! The author has as unique writing style and I don't usually read a lot of science fiction and was not a fan of star trek, but honestly I couldn't put down this book. I think Rayna was a well built main character, and the book wasn't lacking in excitement. Never a dull moment this book kept me locked to it all the way through! I rate it a solid 5 stars and as not a fan of science fiction I believe the author is on point with everything in this novel! Great job Donna Frelick.

Fools Rush In
by Donna S. Frelick
Genre: NA SciFi Romance
Release Date: 18 October 2016
Publisher: Ink’d Press
Summary from Goodreads:
She thought she had the toughest job in Rescue—until the day she had to convert a pirate into a hero.
Interstellar Rescue “conductor” Rayna Carver is deep undercover on a slave ship bound for an isolated region of space when the ship is attacked by pirates. Her liberator is Captain Sam Murphy, a man known in the spacer bars to love only profit, adventure and women.
But Murphy hates a few things, too, chief among them slavers. Will it be enough to gain his help for Rayna’s mission—ferreting out two spies bent on sabotaging an arms factory to turn the tide in an alien civil war?
Buy Links: Kindle
Excerpt:
“What the hell do you think you’re doing? This is a restricted area.”
Still clinging to the grab bar, Rayna glanced up at the captain’s face. His expression didn’t match the censure in his words. The furrows between his brows didn’t look like anger, but she couldn’t quite interpret their true meaning.
“For a pirate ship, you sure have a lot of rules.”
“Discipline is necessary no matter what kind of ship it is.” His lips curved upwards. “Now answer my question.”
Sam Murphy really was a fine-looking man, a dangerously fine-looking man, with those green eyes and a face that belonged in holovids rather than on the deck of a real ship. But damned if he was going to back her up, even in zero G.
“You saw what I was doing; I was working out. The ribs have healed—almost. I didn’t think I’d have to ask permission, especially since I was back here with the waste processors.”
Murphy leaned in closer. In spite of herself, Rayna inhaled and took him in. God, he smelled good—like … the first breath of fresh air dirtside after months on a ship. For a second she was lost, drifting as surely as if she had let go of her mooring on the hull.
“This is my ship, Little Bit.” His voice was a seductive purr. “You need permission for everything.”
Heat flashed from the top of her head to the bottoms of her feet. Rayna meant to shout, but her voice came out in a matching sultry whisper. “Why you puffed up, self-righteous, arrogant—” She got her hormones in check and started over. “Control seems to be your middle name, Murphy. Well, let me tell you something: I joined Rescue because Independence is mine.”
“Do I have to remind you you’re a guest on my ship?” His expression had tightened into a smoky scowl. “The one place I have plenty of room onboard is the brig—maybe you’d like accommodations there.” His eyes held hers like he meant it, but a muscle jumped in his jaw. His tell, she realized. He wanted something quite different for her. That heat flashed through her once again, and this time she was certain it had nothing to do with anger.
Damn it.
“All right, yeah, I saw the big ‘Keep Out’ signs. But every other square centimeter of space on this tug is occupied. I needed a workout, and zero G is a good place to get started. I didn’t think anyone would be back here.”
His expressive face changed yet again, the hard lines around his mouth and eyes going soft as the tension drained from him. “Any day but today you’d have been right.”
“What’s different about today?”
He scanned the empty hull space before he answered. “The ship’s on lockdown; I’ve ordered a full security sweep in hull space.”
Understanding dawned. All that bluster was because Murphy was feeling protective. She looked up at him and, yep, there it was, shining from those eyes, despite his stern refusal to smile.
But just because her body responded instantly with eager anticipation didn’t mean her mind should be onboard with this program. Seriously, how would it ever work between them? He was a pirate, for chrissake. According to him, she was an interfering bleeding heart. The only thing they had in common was a disregard for authority, and they would never even agree on the reasons for that.
Oh, but, damn, he smelled so good. He kept floating closer, and she was so tired. She wanted to let go and settle into those arms.
“You miscalculated.” His arm was around her shoulders again, his lips against her ear.
“What do you mean?” Her protest came out in a breathy murmur.
“You’re exhausted. You weren’t ready for this much exertion.” He was so close, so warm, encouraging her to let go. “I bet you didn’t ask Doc Berta for permission either.”
She finally gave up and transferred her hold to him, arms and legs wrapping around his hard body. He hooked both feet around the handholds below them, anchored one hand and used the other to clasp her to him; she was so small in comparison, his arm stretched all the way across her lower back.
She looked up at him, lips inches from his. “I don’t ask permission for anything.”

Blog Review of Heath, Cliffs and Wandering Hearts by Laura Barnard

Heath, Cliffs & Wandering Hearts by Laura Barnard
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a very sweet contemporary romance I would consider it YA if asked my personal opinion. I loved the story line, the lead character Savannah doesn't feel she's good enough if she doesn't have money like her new friends and I enjoyed the build-up to the major surprises that happen towards the end. I also loved Heath, but am now left wondering if there will be another book after this one with more of what happens next with him and Savannah. I was a little stunned by the eagerness to forgive so easily by the boyfriend, and curious if there is a specific reason that may be revealed in another book to come. Laura did a great job overall though, I enjoyed the book, and didn't find anything I can say I didn't specifically dislike at all. So I rate this book 4 stars and think it's definitely a good book to pick up and read on a rainy day. Great job Laura!
