THERESA'S REVIEW: I have been in a bit of a reading slump lately- just could not find anything to grab my attention for longer than the first few pages or chapter.

That is... until Crow came along.
I'm so happy to have finally finished a book lol. Loved it! Well-written and just the right mixture of elements to keep me interested so that I could blaze through the story. I love sassy characters, and Mackenzie is a spitfire- loved her character. If the F-bomb is offensive, then I wouldn't suggest reading this book hahaha. Mack sets out to find out what happened to her best friend by going undercover as a dancer at the club, but finds herself drawn to someone she'd least expect- & the steam rises between Mack (Butterfly) and Lachlan. This is my first book by this author, but I'm on board and eager to read more. Next...

HI EVERYONE!! We had a great time at the signing in Chicago. There were sooo many authors to meet and not enough time. However, we got our fair share of author loving in, so here is a few pics we brought home to share with all of you. :)

After meeting all of the authors that we did... we decided that our two favorites were J.A. Huss and J.D. Hollyfield. J.A. Huss, is so amazing and talented, and J.D. Hollyfield, wins the most personable author in attendance. She was so sweet and approachable.

Overall, we had a great experience for our first signing event attended by either Sunni or myself (Theresa). If J.D. Hollyfield gets the most personable award from BookRelations, then J.A. Huss gets the... Badass Super Author award from me lol. :)

My only regret is not getting a photo with her, but considering her line was so long, I didn't want to hold it up any longer. We waited for so long to see her and Chelle Bliss (loved her, too). It was totally worth it! :)

Can't go anywhere without some type of drama these days, can ya? 

Well, part of the reason we had to wait so long to see author J.A. Huss was because they were handing out bracelets for some authors, and we were assigned numbers called in small groups based off our bracelets to reduce the lines and save us time. 

Yep, so people were not actually putting the bracelets on the writs of those who were getting them, and some people were handing off their bracelets to their friends so their friends wouldn't have to wait for their number to be called. At first, everyone thought the lines were just moving super slow, but it was soon discovered what was really going on. 

We were lucky to get to see some of these authors because of this. I understand the excitement and all, but it's not fair to others who purchased books from those authors for the signing, too. Wait your turn!! It's a shame that this happened, but all worked out for us and really hope that there were not any people who didn't get to see an author because of this greediness. 

Not only that, but J.A. Huss was kind enough to offer a free book to the first 100 people who were in her line. We didn't even know about it until we got up to her table, but others did and this was part of the reason for handing off their bracelets to their friends. That was so sweet of J.A. Huss to do and of course others have to ruin a good thing. I mean, it must be flattering to the author that people are trying to find ways to cheat the system just to get their hands on one of her books, but it's selfish and rude to those who should have rightfully received their free book from the author. Luckily, we were not affected by this either, but it's no doubt that others were robbed of their chance. Oh well, what can we do?!! There will always be people out there who take advantage of others and have a complete lack of respect. ANYWAY: Enough about that... MORE SIGNING PHOTOS. :) 

So those are only some of the authors who we were able to meet. Other authors included, Penelope Douglas, Kendall Ryan, Meghan March, H.J. Bellus, M.J. Fields, Michelle Mankin, Jessica Hawkins, Rochelle Paige, Elle Christensen, and I'm sure there are many more I'm not thinking off at this moment. Sorry if I missed you.

Determined to retake control, I feathered a caress over the sloping muscle of her abdomen while fighting to my last breath the urge to explore her body further. As I took one step back to unsteady her balance, she instantly countered, throwing her palms against the wall behind her and launching the both of us backward. On the far side of the hall, we slammed with a crash so violent that it dislodged a pair of antique mirrors from their mounts.

Moments later, I finished the job. As I shook off the impact of not one, but two bodies, she dropped to the ground, ripping my belt away and heaving it down the staircase. For a passing second, I humored the desire to leave her there on her knees, at the mercy of the beast she seemed determined to unleash. Any longer, however, and she risked getting herself into real trouble. With a grunt of reluctance, I lifted her to her feet and spun her hard against the wall. This time, both mirrors collapsed under the force of the blow, unleashing a deafening roar to each side as bronze frames hit the floor and rained shards of glass over ancient oak.

Looking to one side and then the other while helplessly bound by my grasp, she shook her head and spoke softly, “Fourteen years of bad luck. I hope I’m worth it.”

“You better be.”

I pressed her firmly to the paneling with an added shove for emphasis, and then raked slowly up her sides. Keeping her shoulders glued to the wall, her lower body began to buck as the random whimper escaped her lips. Eventually, every inch struggled to break free and lurch forward for my lips but I allowed nothing on her terms.

With a punishing tug of her hair, I held her still and licked a trail up the warm pulse of her neck. Near enough to taste her lips, I leaned in to stake my claim with that first deep kiss, mangling her blouse in desperation I could no longer control. With a starved tug of fabric, the top two buttons flew free to bounce across the floor, just as the resurrected power grid kindled a soft amber glow.

While my eyes adjusted, I caught a first glimpse of the crucifix revealed by my assault. I can’t tell you how long it kept me at bay as the receding darkness left me once again accountable for my craving. For the first time that evening, I looked into her eyes, squarely and honestly, and reaped all the shame that she had sown. In the rekindled lamp light, I saw only a young girl, and the trust I had so long refused to break.

“I have to get back,” I said, dropping my guilt-laden gaze to the floor.

To this day, those words stand among the most difficult I’ve ever uttered. I knew perfectly well the repercussions they would echo, if not for how long they would do so. No longer had I sacrificed my opportunity for her unwitting benefit. I had now formally rejected it. Fourteen years of bad luck, indeed…

As I turned to leave her trembling in the hallway, I feared the curse may have already taken hold. The moment I stepped again into solitude, that fear gave way to certainty. With a broken breath, I stepped to the bedside to take an icy hand in my own, realizing immediately that I’d returned just minutes too late. I collapsed back into my seat and buried a roar of resignation deep between my palms, grudgingly accepting the unpalatable truth that I had failed not one, but two vows that evening.

My Review:

I started this book a few days ago and thought it was a great suspense packed sensual read written in, the male POV, wich is unique but not my favorite writing style in general, and I gave this a shot regardless of that aspect. I thought this will be a wonderful read for a mature Adult audience some of the dialogue is written in a well rounded educated format that was at times hard for me to follow, but I was able to finish this book and although I don't think it's for me I do think many others will love this authors unique writing style and a hot book written in male POV:) JD Lexx has a very unique way of telling his story as if your walking through the life of his character yourself, and takes the reader on a journey throughout this book. I gave this book 4 stars because although it was different then my average book I thought it posessed a lot of great qualities and so much uniqueness that made it a great read for others who enjoy a good suspenseful adult romance. I definitely would recommend that you take the time and check it out!
